  • Visualization is always the first step.The Zone System is concerned with control of image values, ensuring that light and dark values are rendered as desired. Anticipation of the final result before making the exposure is known as visualization.
  • Each zone is ONE STOP (one EV) different from its adjacent zone(s). A change of one EV is equal to a change of one zone.
  • Zone V is the same value for the subject, the negative, & the print.
  • Light meters that record light REFLECTED from the subject assume the subject to be ZONE V regardless of its true tonal value.
